  • Is shopping on this site secure?

  • How can I tell it's a secure site?
    • Whenever shopping online, look for the little padlock icon at the lower right corner of your browser window (see image on the right).  Clicking on the padlock icon will open a window with details about the security certificate of the page.
    • In addition, look at the URL (the address of the page at the top) to make sure that it begins with https, and not http (the 's' stands for Secure server).
    • Never leave your financial or confidential information on a web page that does not display the padlock icon and has the "https" in the address line.

Questions About Mind Machines & the SST

  • How Many Sessions Can I Use a Week?
    • Recommended session use is 1 to 3 times a week.

  • What is Overstimulation?
    • Overstimulation may occur if you or your child has difficulty sleeping, experiences a headache, or becomes more hyperactive or aggressive. If you or your child experiences increases in hyperactive or impulsive behavior after using an Excitatory program, try an Inhibitory program instead. Individuals may respond differently to each program type. Use the program type that results in the most desired effect. 

  • How Have These Programs Addressed Problem Behaviors
    and Improving Motivation and Self Esteem?
    • Many of these programs have been implemented in therapeutic and learning centers as an adjunct intervention for learning and attentional disorders and have also been found decrease problem behaviors and enhanced motivation and self-esteem. Parent and teacher rating scales often reported improvement in attitude, motivation, self confidence, and a decrease in hyperactive or problem behaviors (Micheletti, 1997; Olmstead, 1997; Patrick, 1994; Woodbury, 1996). School reports frequently note better work habits, and an increase in independent work and homework completion. Listening, oral expression, and handwriting skills also improved. Group participation, cooperation, and a more positive attitude were often reported for most of the students.

  • How do I Use These Programs with Children?
    • It is recommended that children use these programs accompanied with a story or song cassette or CD. Please use caution when using AVS with children, and be certain that the volume and light intensity is set at a comfortable level. If the light intensity is too bright, your child may experience eye strain or a headache. No more than two or three sessions a week are recommended for children.
